What is graphite powder?
Graphite powder is only a kind of graphite in the form of powder, which retains all the inherent primary and secondary properties of graphite.
Graphite is an allotrope of carbon. It is grayish black and opaque solid. It is greasy and can pollute the paper.
Its hardness is 1-2, and the hardness increases to 3-5 with the increase of impurities in the vertical direction. The specific gravity is 1.9-2.3. The range of specific surface area is concentrated in 1-20m2/g. Under the condition of oxygen isolation, its melting point is above 3000℃, so it is one of the most temperature-resistant minerals. It can conduct electricity and heat.

These impurities often appear in the form of quartz, pyrite, carbonate and other minerals. In addition, there are water, asphalt, CO2, H2, CH4, N2 and other gas parts. Therefore, for the analysis of graphite, in addition to the determination of fixed carbon content, the content of volatile matter and ash must also be determined at the same time.

Excessive exposure to graphite can cause serious harm to the respiratory system. Documented health effects include pulmonary fibrosis and pneumoconiosis, an occupational lung disease. The cardiovascular system will also be affected, and workers' lung function may decline.
 
What is a substitute for graphite powder?
Graphite powder is an excellent dry lubricant, but it has been shown to be corrosive to aluminum when moisture may be present. At this time, graphite can be replaced by molybdenum disulfide MoS2 powder.
